Purpose of Establishment
Purpose
| North Alps Broad Band Network has been established to contribute to mountain medical services, safety activities, and environmental protection for mountain climbers and nature lovers. In order to accomplish our purpose, we provide on-site images/movies and mountain information, including sending weather reports using wireless LAN, improving and developing mountain trails, providing better mountain medical services and rescue operations, and protecting nature. |
History of Establishment
| In 2000, Nagano Prefecture General Industrial Technology Center, Shinshu University School of Medicine, TV Matsumoto Cable Vision Co., Azumino TV Co., I-NET Co., and the lodges in the southern area of the North Alps were the core members that gathered together to begin an experiment to see how effective wireless LAN would be in the mountains. It is now critical to the North Alps Broad Band Network, in terms of providing remote medical assistant for climbers in the southern area of the North Alps. Their 5-year study showed that high-speed communication via wireless LAN in the mountains would enable them to provide both climbers and lodges with remote medical assistant as well as useful data such as weather reports or visual information. It has been proven that a broad band network is certainly helpful in mountain areas. Therefore, we have decided that it is time to finish using the network on an experimental basis and now put it into practice. That is why we established our specified nonprofit organization in order to develop our activities furthermore. |
